The chair that we're starting out with I'll give you a bit of an overview, so I just laid down a garbage bag for my work area. Originally, the chair was like a yellowy oak color and I had just painted it white a couple nights ago. I did two coats, so I'm gonna take all my taping off and then we're gonna paint the fabric. Okay, I got all the tape off and before we get started, I just want to do a quick overview like close-up to show you guys what it looks like so I know some people may ask so the color paint that I used is just like a bear.
Paint like for your walls from Home Depot, it's like the whitest white color. I wasn't very careful. As you can see, I got some on them um seat and that's a big dirty stain that it came with. But overall I actually think the white turned out really good. So here we are at the back where the chair actually has a little bit of a rip, so you can see it's coming apart there. So what I'm gonna do is, after we paint the fabric part, I'm either going to hot glue that or somehow like sew it back in or nail it I'm not too sure yet but yeah.
This is a quick overview of the chair, and now we are going to start painting, okay, so basically what you're going to need. I got this tulip fabric spray paint from the water. Originally I was intending to use the Martha Stewart fabric medium, buy some acrylic paint and then mix them together with water, but um. I live in the middle of nowhere, so they don't have that at my Walmart. So this was the closest thing I could get and it seems pretty easy, I'm doing it white. Just because I mean this is the first care that I've ever refurbished and the first time I've ever painted fabric.
So I figured it was a safe bet. If I had white on white um, some brushes just in case and a towel too, like in case I get any on the wood, I can just wipe it away or anywhere it's not supposed to be so yeah. Basically, the instructions on this say literally just spray. It on so that's what we're gonna do. We're gonna see how it works. Okay, so far, so good um. This piece here took me about five minutes, I'm realizing that we're going to probably need two or three of these bottles, but other than that. It's actually working really well, and I will get back to you guys when the chair is finite, who says that so I actually did end up using these brushes quite a bit. I needed two coats of paint and each coat was about a bottle full.
So what I ended up doing is, I would just take the paint and spray the whole chair down or even dump some on there, and then I would use these little brushes and literally just paint it out. So I found that that technique works best. For me. Okay, so here we are with the finished product of the chair after two coats of this stuff, so just fabric spray paint from Walmart, it's $ 10 a bottle so that cost me $ 20 to paint the chair. I actually really recommend using this spray paint um. If you do, though, I'd recommend that you go outside and use it because my hardwood floors have paint all over them, but it was like minus 20, so I didn't they want to go outside and paint yeah.
